Baby food

It's been a LONG time since we've done this. As the list of solid foods that Laynie is eating grows, so does the necessity for us to get serious about making more foods. We made all of Sydney's food when she started eating solids, so of course we'd do nothing less for Laynie. Jess loves Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron. And here is her dog-eared copy. She refers to it as the "bible" for baby food making.

And here are some frozen cubes of peas:

Here is the finished product. There's peas, avocado, carrots, pears, and mangos all vacuum sealed and ready for freezer storage.

Nothing feels better than to know exactly what is going into Laynie's body. We LOVE making baby food. It's really quite rewarding. And Laynie loves food so much, she's having no problem trying everything we're making for her.

Holy cow, so that is what organized people do.
Peanuts food was stuffed into a gallon freezer bag and used until it ran out.
Individual vacuum pack? Wow!

YAY!!! We also loved that book - and it was so much fun making their food. I hope she enjoys it all!

i love that book! i'm still making veggie cubes for my 20 month old (minus the pureeing of course). i just posted a tutorial to my blog about making fruit leather at home (fortytworoads.blogspot.com) - it came out great the very first time, and my daughter loves it despite being a little wary of fruits themselves.

Thanks for the recommendation. Our first child is on the way and we've been talking about making baby food, wondering what it entails. Going to pick this book up. Cheers!
