It's here again. First day of school. Just another reminder that my girls are getting older - so I get sadder.

Layne starts in the 4-year old program and Sydney starts 4th grade.

I may have mentioned something about a new job in past posts, but I can't remember. Anyway, after I told my boss that I didn't want to come back, I reneged. See, the science teacher left mid-year, so I knew that position would be open. Also, the art/music teacher decided she needed to teach only one, and she decided on music. So I threw my hat in the ring for that as well. Both are part time positions - only a couple hours a day. But in the end, neither position panned out. But another position opened up and my boss offered it to me. It wasn't what I expected, but it would give me a little experience as a teacher. AND it is part time, which is what I need - at least while I'm the chairman of the fundraising festival. So here I am - the new Transition teacher. [Transition is for children that are either ready for kindergarten, but don't meet the birthday cut-off, or meet the cut-off but are not mature enough for kindergarten. It is still technically pre-k, but a different curriculum and different expectations.]
Today was our first day. The girls are excited about their new classes. And I'm excited to be teaching my own. We're looking forward to a great year!
1 peeps talkin' back:
